Organisms survive in a range of temperature conditions using different techniques.
Seals have lots of subcutaneous fat to keep warm in the cold. Camels store fat in small areas (humps) so heat can be lost from the rest of the body. Humans in Siberia in winter wear warm coverings and keep moving when outside. Lemmings in the Arctic tundra curl into a ball in an underground burrow. Sidewinder desert snakes shade their bodies or barely touch the ground. Penguins huddle together for warmth. Humans in tropical regions sweat and fan a breeze over their bodies. Elephants spray their bodies with water and cover their skin with dirt to reflect the suns rays.
