Lipstick
We buy a lipstick purely for aesthetic reasons to make us feel
and look good, as a fashion accessory. The choice of lipstick can
be influenced by colour, effect (shimmer, gloss etc.), what it purports
to do (give you irresistible lips, stay on all day), or because
of the brand appeal.
However, it could be said that most lipsticks (and certainly lip
salves), can help look after your lips. The ingredients include
waxes, which act as a protective barrier – moisturising and
protecting the thin skin on the surface of our lips, the epidermis.
Historically members of the opposite sex are attracted to certain
‘zones’. In humans these accessible zones are the lips
in females. The more obvious and attractive the lips are the more
the male is attracted. Today lipsticks are available in a variety
of formats and may act not only to enhance the lips, but also to
protect them from sun and wind damage.
